The idea of a settlement house in a crowded section of some
city has become familiar, but few per sons realize that, in a thinly
settled rural community, there may be as greut a need of such a
center ef inspiration, encouragement and help as asettlement
house can give
As the actoof incorporation allows an interest
in seciological work in the whole stte, it is the purpose of this
association to know every one of its two hundred and thirty-four
towns as thoroughly as possible and to
act as a bur eau of informa-
tion for every town as to all the rescurces in the state which
may be used for the betterment of
a community
