"SHIFTING" TEXTURES
When the size of spote in a picture are a little too
small for the eye to grasp as individual shapes, the eye will lump
a mass of them into a rough texture.
For instance

the area of city buildinge, if the photograph were three times
it present size, the building would be autometically picked out
es individual shapes. At the present aize, and viewing distance
normal for reading a book, the eye is apt to treat the area as
texture et one moment and as spote at the next.
