If considered as a bridge to experience, there are three
objects vieible, face, painted skull and clenched fist. What is to
be left out?
And whet is to be read ? Pace and painted skull
certainly. The character of the woman is reas onably closar.
Sitting
beside her work, which is for sale, we soe lines of frustration. The
grin on the skull, by contrast, sets her own more firmly down the path
of corosion.
What about the clinched fist? It can be disregarded,
without altering what we feel about the unsuccessful artiet.
But there
it isvisible in the picture. Objects may be photo graphed in the hodge-
pod ge kind of way, items completely unrelated thrown together -- once
they are merooned in e photograph, the human looking at the picture will
strive to establish meaningful relatione. They may be forced -- as here,
