A great iron manufacturing company asked us if it were possible
to erect well built houses for its
workingmen who were paid from $10 to $15 a week, and who could afford to pay from $8 to $10 a
month in rent
This design was the reply. Here is
group of six cottages, each containing five rooms.
The proportion, the simple architectural details and the coloring make the group as beautiful as the widely
known English workingmen's houses.
The outside and

sible from either side. On the second floor are three rooms, the largest room 15 feet long.
These houses can be built in quantities so they will pay taxes, an interest on the investment, and
